Because he’s morally bankrupt. If you believe in survival at all costs, then it’s easy to wipe out billions of lives simply to save your own. But if you believe in the sanctity of life to any degree, that decision is a lot more difficult. But that’s what NEW AVENGERS is all about—and different characters are going to come up with different answers to that algebra.

You can’t exactly claim that 616 Reed isn’t just as morally bankrupt as Ultimate universe Reed.
